Ministry of Community Empowerment Wins “Innovation for Impact 2025” Award at AI for Good Global Summit for AI-Enhanced Non-Profit Organizations National Registry

Geneva, 9 July 2025

In a landmark achievement that underscores the United Arab Emirates’ global leadership in digital transformation and the human-centered adoption of artificial intelligence, the AI-Enhanced Non-Profit Organizations National Registry, developed by the Ministry of Community Empowerment, has won the prestigious “Innovation for Impact 2025” award- a recognition of pioneering initiatives that leverage AI to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and was presented during the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The summit brought together representatives from 25 countries and more than 250 cutting-edge projects to explore the opportunities, risks, and governance challenges surrounding the next wave of AI innovation—ensuring its alignment with sustainable and ethical development.

The award recognizes the Ministry’s outstanding contributions to designing intelligent, future-ready solutions that streamline the work of the third sector—a key partner to both public and private sectors. As a strategic pillar of social and economic empowerment, the third sector plays a crucial role in shaping a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable future.

The National Registry stands as a leading example of how AI technologies—especially Natural Language Processing (NLP) and semantic search—can simplify registration and licensing processes for public benefit associations. These enhancements have significantly reduced administrative processing times, boosted institutional efficiency, and amplified the societal impact of these entities. The initiative forms part of the Ministry’s broader mission to empower the third sector, build robust digital platforms, and develop a comprehensive national database to activate the sector’s role in fostering cohesive, engaged communities.

The Ministry’s project was selected as one of 50 winning initiatives, recognized globally as among the most productive and pioneering. Award recipients were also invited to showcase their experiences to an international audience of policymakers, innovators, and experts during summit sessions held from 8 to 11 July 2025.

Receiving this prestigious award underscores the UAE’s significant progress in leveraging AI for societal good and showcases the success of its government innovation model—one built on visionary leadership, adaptability, and human-technology synergy. The award serves as further motivation to accelerate the UAE’s efforts in digital empowerment, while reaffirming its role as a global inspiration in using technology to enhance human well-being and shape a sustainable future for all.
